Privacy Policy
Last updated July 20, 2026.
Funeral Succession is owned and operated by Funeral Decisions, Co. The platform exists because discretion matters in this profession. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the commitments we make — the same confidentiality-first posture that shapes the rest of the platform.
What we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored hashed, never readable by us).
- Buyer qualification profile — the acquisition criteria you provide: capital availability, financing status, licensure, target markets, timeline.
- Seller intake — what you tell us about your business through the confidential seller form.
- Inquiries — messages you send about specific listings.
- Billing — subscription status and payment history. Card details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor; we never see or store your card number.
- Usage basics — standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) kept for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To operate the marketplace: matching opportunities to your criteria, relaying inquiries, and sending alerts you request.
- To qualify participation: buyer profiles are how we keep the network credible for sellers and brokers.
- To contact you about your account or a deal you're engaged in.
What we will not do
- We do not sell your personal information. To anyone.
- We never reveal that a seller is exploring a sale. Seller identity is shielded by default everywhere on the platform and is shared only by the seller's explicit choice.
- We do not expose your contact details to the other side of a deal — introductions happen through us, and direct contact begins only when both sides agree.
- Your buyer profile is shared with a seller or broker only in the context of a specific opportunity you've pursued, never as a list.
Service providers
A small set of vendors process data on our behalf, each limited to its function:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- SendGrid — delivering the emails we send you (alerts, relay notifications, account messages).
- MapTiler — map tiles on listing pages; your browser requests tiles from their servers.
- Sentry — error monitoring, configured to exclude personal information from error reports.
- Anthropic — AI analysis of listing content (the business information in listings, not your account data); Anthropic does not use this content to train its models.
- Hosting and network providers (Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare) — running and protecting the site.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to investigate fraud or abuse, or — should Funeral Decisions, Co. ever be part of a merger or sale — to a successor bound by this policy's commitments.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs to function: a session cookie to keep you signed in and a security (CSRF) cookie. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your choices and rights
Whatever state or country you're in, you can email [email protected] to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
- Correct or update it.
- Delete your account and associated personal information (records tied to a completed transaction may be kept where the law requires).
- Opt out of non-essential email — account and transaction messages are part of the service and continue while your account is open.
We set no tracking cookies, so there is nothing to honor a browser "Do Not Track" signal against. California residents have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be treated differently for exercising those rights; as stated above, we do not sell personal information.
Retention & deletion
We keep account and deal information while your account is active or as needed to support a transaction. Email [email protected] to request deletion of your account and associated personal information.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored hashed, and sensitive seller information is restricted to the small team that works those relationships. No system is perfectly secure, but discretion is the product here and we build accordingly.
Children
The site is for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Where data lives
We operate from the United States and process data on U.S. servers. If you use the site from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and handled in the U.S.
Changes
We may update this policy as the platform evolves; material changes are announced to account holders by email, and the date above always reflects the current version.
